Come and See

The ancient Christian faith is still here.

For two thousand years, Christians have gathered to worship Christ through prayer, Scripture, the Eucharist, and a life shaped by the Gospel. That faith continues today at St. George Orthodox Church in Prescott.

You do not need to be Orthodox. You do not need to understand the service. You do not need to have everything figured out.

You are welcome to come and experience it.

A Place for Prayer, Beauty, and Encounter

Orthodox worship is ancient, reverent, and centered on Jesus Christ. You will hear Scripture, see sacred images, smell incense, and experience prayers that have formed Christians for generations.

Some people come because they are searching for a church. Others are curious about Christian history. Some simply need a quiet place to pray.

Whatever brings you, you are welcome to visit without pressure or expectation.

What You Will Find

Ancient Worship

Our services are rooted in the worship of the early Church and have been handed down through generations.

A Living Faith

Orthodoxy is not only a connection to the past. It is a way of following Christ through prayer, repentance, mercy, and community.

A Place to Belong

St. George is a community of ordinary people learning to worship God and love one another.

The Early Church Still Exists Today

The Orthodox Church understands itself as the continuation of the historic Church founded by Christ and proclaimed by the Apostles.

Its worship, sacramental life, bishops, creeds, and spiritual practices developed within the ancient Christian world and remain central to Orthodox life today.

Orthodoxy is not an attempt to recreate the early Church. It is the same living tradition continuing through history.

What to Expect on Your First Visit

An Orthodox service may feel unfamiliar at first. That is completely normal. You may notice chanting rather than contemporary worship music, icons and candles, incense, people making the sign of the Cross, and people standing for much of the service.

You are not expected to know what to do. You may stand or sit as you are comfortable and simply observe. There is no pressure to participate in practices you do not understand.

What should I wear?

Wear something comfortable and respectful. You do not need special clothing.

Can I bring children?

Yes. Children are part of our worshipping community, and some movement or noise is expected.

May visitors receive Communion?

Visitors are welcome at the service, but Holy Communion is reserved for prepared Orthodox Christians. You may remain in place during Communion without embarrassment.

Will someone speak with me?

Someone will be available to welcome you and answer questions, but you will also be given space if you prefer to observe quietly.
