The Story of Saint Nicholas
A Family Holiday Event
December 6 at 5:30 PM
609 W Gurley St, Prescott AZ
Join us for a festive, family-friendly evening that shares the story of Saint Nicholas and explores the spirit of generosity at the heart of the season. The event includes a short presentation for adults, hands-on activities for children, and time afterward for photos and refreshments.
Registration is not required, but letting us know you plan to attend will help us prepare well for everyone who is coming.
How the Evening Works
We begin together inside the church for a brief welcome. Saint Nicholas will greet the children and then lead them to their activity space. Children will remain there with volunteers while adults stay in the church for the presentation.
After the presentation, everyone comes together again in the courtyard for refreshments, photos, and time to visit with St. Nicholas.
Adult Presentation
While children are doing activities, adults will hear a short presentation about the life of Saint Nicholas and how his generosity has shaped Christmas traditions throughout the world. The tone is warm and seasonal, not academic or formal.
At the end of the presentation, adults will receive a St. Nicholas celebration bag containing traditional items used in many households to mark St. Nicholas Day. This bag is meant to give parents everything they need to celebrate the holiday at home with their children.
Children’s Activities
While adults attend the presentation, children will participate in guided activities focused on being like Saint Nicholas through generosity. Instead of receiving gifts, children will create a simple craft intended to be given to someone else as an act of kindness.
When the program finishes, the children will enter the courtyard with their handmade gift, ready to share it with someone special.
All activities are supervised by volunteers and tailored to young children.
Santa and St. Nicholas
We understand that families approach Santa in different ways. We want this event to support your family’s traditions, not challenge them. The sense of wonder surrounding Santa will be honored. We also introduce Saint Nicholas as a real historical figure whose generosity inspired many Christmas customs.
Parents may choose the level of participation that fits their family.
Refreshments and Photos
After the presentations and activities conclude, everyone is invited to stay for refreshments, take photos, and enjoy time together in the courtyard with St. Nicholas.
Arrival and Parking
Parking is available onsite and along nearby streets. Please enter through the courtyard. Volunteers will be available to help direct families.
