Feast of Dormition

“O pure Virgin, thou hast won the honour of victory over nature by bringing forth God; yet like thy Son and Creator, thou hast submitted to the laws of nature in a manner above nature. Therefore, dying thou hast risen to live eternally with thy Son.” (From Ode I, First Canon, Matins for the Dormition)

Dear brothers and sisters,

This is a reminder that this evening (8/13) at  6pm will be the final Paraklesis service of the Dormition Fast.
Tomorrow evening (8/14) we will serve a Vesperal Liturgy for the feast at 6pm, followed by a potluck supper at my home.
I strongly encourage all of you to attend this festive memorial in honor of our Lady Theotokos.
In her being raised to glory with her Son we are given a second assurance of the resurrection of all mankind. The Son of God descended and became man, the Virgin is raised to life in God, by grace, in her deathless Dormition.
With love in Christ,
Fr. Jeffrey
